Did good today at the grocery store.
My total was $14.71. The amount saved was $23.61.
I don't often have trips like that. Usually this happens when I go out and buy all sale items and use coupons.
This was one of those trips.
I do one beef, however. It's just a small one.
I found out last week that when you buy 5 Jack's Pizzas (they're on sale for $1.88), you get a coupon for $2 off your next order.
Sweet deal!
I had 2 such coupons, and used them on my order tonight.
For some reason, both scanned, but they both came up as -$1.88. I had to interrupt the cashier's conversation with the bagger, but I had to point out that those coupons were worth $2 apiece. And she kind of looked at me confused (hey, I get it, you're a cashier, you get lots of people through your line each day, I do not expect you to look at each and every coupon) and kind of pointed to the screen. And I was like, "Those red ones," *lean over counter, point* "they're for $2 off."
So she had to manually take 24 cents off.
Part of me kind of feels weird about piping up over 24 cents, but c'mon! The coupon says $2, not $1.88.
And I'm not at all faulting the checker - grocery stores are really busy places with the inventory changing all the time. And since the databases are always changing, errors are kind of common.
Though I wish the cashiers knew that I knew that - I'm not telling them how to do their job, and I always make sure to be nice and polite about it. But when the computers are wrong, I'm going to say something.
